The Garmin Edge 800 is able to read GPX files, you just have to put them in the right place. So connect the Edge to your PC, and it should appear as a removable drive. Now go to that drive, then open the folder Garmin NewFiles. Then copy the GPX file into that folder. Then disconnect the Edge from the PC, and switch it on.

Garmin Edge 810 - want to buy, some questions...
Hi All,
I'm looking to buy the Garmin Edge 810 device. I have two main activities I would like to use the device for:
-
Training - redo a course I already did and get the pace vs. a previous ride. This is explained in their user manual and it looks excellent.
-
Exploration - I want to be able to create/download courses (trails, not street) from the web and be able to upload them into the device such that I can follow the route on the device screen and not get lost. This isn't clear on the manual.
My questions:
-
Is it doable/easy to upload a trail (say in GPX format or other) to the device? Do I need to buy something in addition? I live outside the US, so the default maps aren't good for me. I read that you can use open-maps?
-
The default MTB mount that comes in the basic package - is it sturdy/safe enough?

I tried searching previous post. Please excuse me if this is a repeat.
Thanks, Shay
